...to Wakefield Orchestral Wind. We are an orchestral wind band based in Ossett, West Yorkshire. We have a varied repertoire, and a large selection of music, from popular film music to show music, big band, classical and our conductor's own arrangements.

23rd April 2012 - Evening concert in Wakefield

On Saturday night the band played to an audience at West Wakefield Methodist Church. We played a varied programme of music including traditional marches, selections from shows and films and pop songs. Thank you to the audience for supporting us and to the church for inviting us to play. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening and we hope to be able to play for you again!

Our conductor for the concert was Alex Wilkinson who has kindly been standing in for the last few weeks whilst we looked for a permanent conductor. Our sincere thanks go to Alex for helping us out, but we probably won't miss the bad jokes!

We now look forward to Thursday when we will have our first rehearsal with our new conductor Lee Muncaster.

2nd February 2012 - Garry departs WOW

WOW would like to wish our departed conductor, Garry Hallas, all the best for the future. Garry is taking up a fantastic conducting opportunity elsewhere and he goes with our good wishes and praise. We thoroughly enjoyed being under his guidance and know that his new band will certainly benefit from working with him.

Garry commented "I have enjoyed working with you all, the musicianship and dedication shown by everyone is fantastic. I would like to wish you all, the very best for your music making in the future."

Good luck Garry, you will be missed by all at WOW!
